Swiggle Screen Cover Widget

Whilst the World Wide Web is great an full of any information you want, it is simply too big to fully curate and monitor every piece of content on it. Swiggle is here to help you learn how to browse the Web safely and make it an enjoyable experience.

At some point though, you may click a link that takes you to a page that contains inappropriate content. If this happens you can use our screen cover widget to hide the content, you can then alert your parents or a teacher.

How to install the widget

There are two ways to install the widget, firstly if you install our browser extension, you will automatically get the Swiggle Screen Cover Widget:

The second method is to install our bookmarket by dragging the link below onto your bookmarks toolbar, or right clicking and selecting Bookmark This Link, where it will be in easy reach! It's that simple!

How to show the bookmarks toolbar

If you cannot see the bookmarks toolbar, you may need to turn it on:

Firefox

  1. Click the burger menu icon in the top right hand corner of the browser
  2. Select Library
  3. Select Bookmarks
  4. Select Bookmarking Tools
  5. Select View Bookmarking Toolbar

Chrome

  1. Click the 3 dots icon in the top right hand corner of the browser
  2. Select Bookmarks
  3. Select Show bookmarks bar

Or alternatively you can use press Ctrl + Shift + B on your keyboard to show and hide the toolbar.

Edge

  1. Click the 3 dots icon in the top right hand corner of the browser
  2. Select Settings
  3. Under the Favourites Bar section, toggle Show the favorites bar to the On position

Internet Explorer

  1. Right click on an empty bit of the toolbar at the top of the browser
  2. Select Favorites Bar

*Note that whilst the bookmarklet is more widely supported, depending on the security implementation of the website you wish to cover, the bookmarklet may not function as intended if the website implements a strict Content Security Policy (CSP).
